St George’s Day 2014

Hey everyone,

This weekend we will be celebrating St.George’s Day – the Patron Saint of the Scout Association!

Baden-Powell chose Saint George to be the Patron Saint of The Scout Association. He felt that the Saint George of legend set a good example of faith, courage and perseverance for future generations.

On Saturday 26th April there will be a market in Morley 9-4pm.

On the way to take part in the Saturday activities in Morley, why don’t you pop into the South Leeds and Morley District Campsite, Phoenix from 10am and give us a hand to put the Marquee up on it’s new permanent concrete base ready for the Summer. We need a minimum of 12 people to lift the roof whilst the side poles go in. You can also see where the Jedi Training Camp will take place – May the 4th be with you 🙂

On Sunday 27th April it will be St. George’s Parade in Morley… this is a really exciting and fun event.

The parade will start at 11.30am from the Town Hall on Queen Street in Morley (behind Morrisons). Can we all meet no later than 11.15am please, so we can get in line with the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from other groups in the District.

We will then walk up to Morley Rugby club where there will be stalls, etc and lots of fun things to do – check out the Google Map below for what I (Ziggy!) think the parade route may be

This is a Fun Parade but can we ask that you look smart… No trainers or Jeans. School trousers and dark shoes with your Beaver / Cub  jumper or Scout shirt and awesome 8th Carlton (the Best!) necker will be brill!! Wear extra layers underneath your uniform if the weather’s cold – But its going to be sunny for sure!! 🙂

Other leaders from the Group will be there, but it will be really busy when you arrive so we suggest you make your way to where all the others from your Section are stood.

Have lots of fun,

Green Beaver, Ziggy and the Team!
