Great first night back!!
Wow, what a fantastic start to September!
Cubs were tasked with packing an overnight bag for camp and bringing to the meeting. There was no set criteria and
it was to start the conversations within the sixes as to what we need, what we might like to have and what isn’t
needed. Some of the older/ more experienced cubs turned up with everything you could need for a fortnight in the
Alps, including the travel toilet paper whilst others felt a toy gun, a teddy and clean pants were enough. Strangely,
we didn’t see many washkits, toothbrushes and other personal care products.
We ‘played with’ straws, rice crispies and melted chocolate to make an artistic model that was a floatable raft and
this was working towards our pioneering element of a badge. Hopefully you will have recognised the rafts, boats and
canoes that came home!
We spent a short while working on what the cubs felt was appropriate behaviour for this year ahead and allowed the
cubs to set the rules and limits. The cubs have set a great list and we will be sharing this in due course. By being the
authors of this we feel they will strive hard in the months to come and we will reward them by giving them a
balanced, challenging program that creates opportunities for earning badges whilst having lots of fun.
As leaders we work hard to create interesting fun evenings for all your children and hope that they enjoy them as
much as we do. We try and set tasks that challenge all abilities and allow for personal development and will increase
self confidence. There are no failures only new opportunities to learn. If there are any elements that you are unsure
of or need clarification on please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do all that we can to help you.
