Water fight night! FUN FUN FUN!!!!
16 July 2015
Tonight was the last night of the year for us at Carlton Scout Group and we went out in style!
A water fight was arranged and took place on Millenium Green. We had an amazing turn out of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and plenty of the adult helpers, Leaders and parents all took part.
A tuck shop was also running during the evening (raising money for the group) and the chocolate seemed especially popular with everyone. Thanks to Claire Scaife and family for running the tuck shop at all our events over the last year.
After a thorough soaking, approx 2000 litres were used! there was time to dry off and change into dry clothing before White Beaver arrived on site with boxes of hot fresh Pizza to share round.
These proved to be very popular indeed, judging by the rapidly growing stack of empty boxes, and everyone seemed quite happy when a huge box of cakes appeared to round off the evening.
A speech was given by our esteemed Group Scout Leader, Chil, and he announced that due to the amazing fund raising efforts over the last 12 months, Carlton Scout Group would be fully funding the costs for all those attending (who applied to the exec committee for financial support) the World jamborette and jamboree this year. A remarkable achievement indeed!
Sadly this was our last evening with Ziggy and his family, they are moving to pastures new over the summer and I can honestly say it has been a pleasure to know them, we will all miss them but wish them every success in the future with their new life in California, USA.
Ziggy has been, undoubtedly, ‘a character’ with his endless enthusiasm, unbelievable levels of energy and his thirst for adventure is unrivalled but we have learnt well from him, shared so many good times and we have grown as a group thanks to all his hard work and dedication.
We shall forever remember the quote “What can possibly go wrong???”
What a fabulous end to a wonderful, fun filled year! The children (of the grown up variety) all look forward to the water fight & Pizza!
Thank you to all the Leaders, helpers, and “back room” help that provide such a rich, afe and rewarding environment for our children to grow and learn in.
Wishing Ziggy and family all the very best in their new lives in California, you will most definitely be missed, but your legacy will live on with Sara and the pack!
Those going to Adventure day on Saturday, have a fabulous time too – that really will be a “grand send off”
Kindest Regards
Kay (Millson)
Great evening – a watertight is the perfect way to end the year š
We’ve had a great time being part of the Carlton Scout Group… The best in the South Leeds and Morley District and the Central Yorkshire County… It’s the only place to be!
Chil and Raksha have created a great team and I hope they continue to lead the group and all the youth members to many new adventures š
Wishing everyone all the best in their future scouting ventures.
We’ll keep in touch!
Ziggy, Ziggette and Mini-Zig
What CAN go wrong??
Kids had a great night and I was sorry I missed it. You guys do such a great job all year. Have a great summer and thanks again for all you do to make it so much fun for our kids xxx
The water fight has developed greatly in the 18 years I have witnessed it. The organisation is amazing and the number of children and adults taking part has grown immensely.
My car still had the aroma of pizza the following day!!
Some of the adults taking part were more like children than the children there. You know who you are!!
A good end to a very good year.
It is a pleasure to be part of this group. Thank you to all those who contribute.
I tell everyone that Thursday is community service night. You all sign up for it
Thank you on behalf of all the children past and present
