Princess and the Dragons
Happy St George’s Day everyone, we hope you had a good day, the Cubs certainly enjoyed the creative night we planned for them.
We ran two main activities, the first was designing and creating a shield for each Six so that the Knights could use them in battle to save the princess from the dragons…
…and the second activity was making dragon biscuits in the kitchen. I wonder how many biscuits actually made it home?
A special thank you to the very kind Cubs who made a few extra biscuits for the leaders to sample… I am pleased to report that they were very fine indeed and worthy of a special mention!
The evening finished with a game of knights against dragons, lots of energy was used to try and reach the ‘princess’ with the dragon missiles and a worthy battle took place but the Knights were too strong and the shields protected the precious royal to a very high standard.
As we formed our horseshoe to close for the evening we were lucky to have our Group Scout Leader “Chil” with us and he presented Louis Gwith his Community Challenge badge and also his 4 year award. Sam D who is in transition from Beavers to Cubs was awarded his final challenge badge which means he achieved his Chief Scout Bronze award, the highest award possible in Beavers!
District Cub Camp is coming up next weekend and we will be mailing all all the final details at the start of next week, including times, kit list etc
Thanks everyone, another great night!
The evening was definitely high energy patriotic fun. The cubs worked well together to get through tonight’s programme and despite our leaders absence (representing the group at Leeds Minster) our remaining leaders pulled together well with cubs to have a fun packed night.
Chil also presented our new assistant leader ‘Winnie’ her red necker
