Semaphore, morse code… and POINTS
The Cubs finished and were awarded their Communicator Badge tonight – well done! We’d been working towards this badge over a few weeks – had originally hoped to get it done in two, but it went into three 🙂 See:
- 15th Jan: Deciphering communications
- 22nd Jan: Attempting to communicate again
To finish the Communicator badge tonight, the Cubs had opportunity to try Semaphore and Morse Code. But first we had a quick “blow out” and played a game of “tummy football” which the Cubs enjoy (I think)
Then we cracked on with the plan for the evening. Half of the pack went to a different room to try Morse code with torches (unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of this activity), whilst the other half stayed in the lower basement and made semaphore flags with Shen and Raksha and then tried using them.
At the end of the evening, I got to promote Henry and Imogen to Seconders – they both have shown a great attitude to Scouting and are really engaging with the Cub Scout Programme.
It was with great pleasure I invested Dennis into our Cub Pack and Red Six. Congratulations, Dennis, and welcome!
Awards: Elliot F who completed the requirements for THREE badges last week was presented with them: Camper, Outdoor Challenge and Global Challenge and, Nights Away 5 Staged Activity Badge – great work, Elliot. As I announced the previous week, I have started awarding points now for badges earned. For this stack of badges for Elliot, I awarded him 5,000 points for each Challenge badge, and 2,500 points for his Camper badge – he just racked up *** 12,500 points for BLUE six ***! How many should I award for his Nights Away staged badge (if any?).
Go and check how the scores are looking now after a second week earning points…!
