Heart for Valentines
It was a quiet night in Carlton Scout Group Cub pack tonight, a local primary school were having a Valentines Disco so only 18 cubs attended our meeting. We started the evening with a few games of Chinese Whispers and lots of giggling took place. Ben S provided feedback afterwards “somehow it turned from ‘hula hoops to Postman Pat’, and then we did ‘I go to bed early’ but that was soon changed to I hate to go to bed early”
The main activity of the night was decorating Valentines Hearts and we hope that some actually made it home intact as gifts for loved ones. It seemed a popular activity, perhaps it was the biscuits that were handed all to all cubs during the session (small heart shaped shortbread biscuits) so that all received a Valentines Gift! Yes this also included all the leaders and helpers!!
We finished our evening with a game of Tummy Football. The cubs are very competitive and tried very hard to beat the opposing team however after a boisterous 15 minutes it was declared a draw and all cubs were awarded points for their six for trying their best!
A special badge was awarded to Mao, formerly known as Georgie, who now has an official ‘Scouting’ name!
Thank you to Paul A for staying and helping tonight and also to Raksha, Bagheera, Baloo, Shen, Darzee, and Mao for helping run a great night, I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did.
Awards: As we closed for the evening we awarded Jacob H his 4 years award badge, Thomas W his Outdoor Challenge badge and certificates for all those who took part in the swimming gala last Saturday. Cub Contracts were handed out and these are for cubs to take home as a reminder of the group agreement they all helped to write.
Points: Points awarded during the evening… 2000 points to all sixes for drawing at Tummy Football!; 6000 to Yellow Six for uniforms; 5000 to Red Six for uniforms; 4000 to Yellow Six for uniforms; 3000 to Green Six for uniforms; 1000 points to Jacob H and Imogen S for clearing up after the activity and being helpful; 1000 extra points to Jacob Howarth for giving Raksha his biscuit as a valentines gift!!; 2000 points awarded to Ben Smithson and Elliot Findlay for attending Messy Church last Saturday!
Ziggy: “Wow – loads of points awarded… brilliant! Go check out what the leaderboard looks like now!”
Raksha announced that after half term that an additional 1000 points are available if wearing all the right badges in all the right places (Ziggy: “sounds like the start of a song…?”)
