Final Unihoc practice before District Competition
The Cubs had the opportunity to have one more practice at Unihoc tonight before several of them take part in the District Unihoc Competition this coming Sunday 19th October.
First though, as we had several Cubs who had brought things to show / talk to the Pack about towards badges, we decided to have two presentations at the beginning.
Towards part of his Global Challenge badge, Elliot talked to the Packl about how a car engine works using this brilliant working toy model as a prop
Joe then was quizzed by “Oo” on his recycling knowledge in order to complete his requirements for the Global Challenge Badge – his final one to complete the set!
Then, with time getting on, “Kaa” had the cubs do a warm up “ladder” game
then we got a few, rather boistorious games of Unihoc
During the evening Elliot also showed us his great art work he’d done which looks to have earned him his Artist Badge, Louis M had brought along his accoustic guitar and played a little for us in closing which will go towards his Musicion 1 Staged Activity Badge.
Louis F finished by talking to us about a fundraising idea he’s had for “Simon on the Streets” – a charity which helps homeless people. He’s looking to raise sponsorship – and had produced an excellent sponsorship form – for raising money through rollerskating! We hope to hear more about his efforts and how he’s done next week which may then be credited towards his Community Challenge Badge.
Awards: I didn’t have any badges to hand out tonight, however several of those Cubs who presented things at the start or end of the meeting will be awarded badges next week! 🙂
