Carlton Cubs get to semi-finals in District Unihoc Tournament
Two teams from 8th Carlton Cubs took part in the South Leeds and Morley District Cubs Unihoc Tournament on Sunday 19th October with 11 other Scout Groups from the District.
It was a really good afternoon, with lots of great Unihoc played by all the teams. Here are some photos of the Carlton Cubs teams in action. Each match was played as 2 minutes each way with a change of ends at half time.
One of our teams got through to Round 2 (Semi-finals) playing against 4th Gildersome and 2nd Belle Isle (it was a 3 team semi-final… see the attached doc below). Their match against 2nd Belle Isle went into extra-time as it was a nil-nil draw initially. There was a controversial goal scored by Belle Isle in the first minute of extra time which was allowed by the referee (his decision was finsal!) but our team played brilliantly.
The final was between 4th Gildersome and 2nd Belle Isle – but before it took place, in order to give the Cubs a breather, we have a Leaders v Parents match! It was…. exciting and energetic – but ended tied in a nil-nil draw also 🙂
After presentation of the medals to the winners, 4th Gildersome…
… I invested one of our new Pack members, Harry, who was Moving On from Beavers to Cubs!
Well done both Carlton Cub teams on taking part & playing some great games. Special mention to Louie F and Josh S for some great saves in goal; Joe R, Logan M, James and Harry A for some awesome shots on goal.
You ALL did very well though and I’m a very proud Cub Scout Leader 🙂
Lastly, thanks to one of the Assistant Cub Scout Leaders, Cathy “Keego” for coming along and looking after the Cubs whilst I was helping to run the event with other leaders from the District.
Well done Carlton Cubs – you are all a credit to the Group. Proud of you all!
