We loved building Robots… of all shapes and sizes
Tonight we had a group called Playful Leeds come in to recruit the Cubs‘ and Scouts‘ help in building ROBOTS as part of their quest to create 10,000 robots in Leeds by the weekend of the 25th / 26th October!
There were several different activities on offer giving the children different options for building robots. Of course, the most-popular one that eveyrone wanted to do was build a Minecraft Robot!
We only had a limited number of laptops available to create the robots on so the other groups of children created beautifully simply, but pretty effective and interesting, crazy “Doodlebots”
The Cubs and Scouts also got invovled in creating Tinkerbots from JUNK…
…and making patches for a Roboquilt!
With perfect timing, Ewan brought in this awesome Lego robot he’d made at home
What a busy fun-filled evening!
Thank you to Alison, Julian and Rob for coming and in setting up the activies and overseeing them!
We finished off in horseshow as normal where James A showed us his football kit – including studded football boots, shin-pads and goal-keeper gloves – for his Sports Enthusiast Badge. I, in my role as Akela, was also able to talk to James about his Promise and Fitness Challenge badges during the evening and, once I’ve checked his badge record, should have earned these – his last two Challenge badges as well!
Awards: Louis F was awarded his Hobbies Badge which he’d earned the previous week after showing me his skipping-hobby.
Looks fantastic, I’m especially impressed by the doodlebots and their coming back next week too!
