Japan Jamboree Night
Tonight at Cubs, the evening was run by Taylor, a member of our Scout Troop, and Emily (aka Dizzy), one of our Young Leaders, who put on a Japanese-themed evening – naturally in support of the World Scout Jamboree in 2015 (Taylor and Emily are members of the UK Contingent going to the WSJ!)!
This was to go towards the Cubs’ Global Challenge Badge and their International Partnership Award.
It was a great evening, with lots going on :-).
The evening started off with the investiture, by the Group Scout Leader, of one of our Assistant Cub Scout Leaders, Keego!
Congratualtions Keego!
Then, as my first Cub investiture, since becoming Akela, I invested Harry B – recently Moved On to Cubs from Beavers – into Yellow Six.
Then we handed over to Taylor and Emily to run the evening. After a brief opening by Taylor and Emily, they then split the Cubs up into their Sixes, put some of the Scouts with each Six also and then they went off to do some different activities that had been arranged.
James and a Scout who’s newly joined the Group and the Section, Louie enjoing some Japanese-style painting – there were some really effective and colourful designs produced!
Here Emily demonstrates to a group how to use chopsticks and then they have a go…. if they’re successful, they get to keep – and eat – Haribo 🙂
Lastly Taylor and Emily did a very informative presentation about Japan which the Cubs enthusistically got involved in and asking questions.
Well done, Taylor and Emily for putting this on!
Awards: Our evening culminated with me handing out the new “Time on the Water” badge to Josh S; and some new-look Cubs Contracts (wording is the same) that the newly invested Cubs had signed and I, as “Akela”, counter-signed. The last order of business was then for our Group Scout Leader to make a Chief Scout’s Silver Award presentation to James D who completed all his Challenge Badges the previous week!
Great work James!
A fantastic evening run by two enthusiastic Scouters its great to see how they progress through the sections and grow into confident caring individuals. Well done Taylor and Emily and thank you to their parents too for all the support you give.
Always great to see a Cub achieve their CSSA Well done James.
Your first successful investiture Ziggy and Joes first new cub into his six. They get easier to do but each one is still special.
