Cubs visit West Yorkshire Police CarrGate HQ
Yellow and Blue Sixes had the opportunity to visit West Yorkshire Police’s CarrGate HQ this Thursday evening. – Don’t worry… Red and Green Sixes get to go on the 5th June! 🙂
(we can only take limited numbers on each visit – including leaders! – and our Cub Pack is now too big to take in one go!)
After a brief presentation about the Specialist Services that were based at the CarrGate site, such as the dog unit, Firearms unit, Helicopter and Horse section, we then went on a tour of the HQ and saw some huge police horses and a lot of their gear…
unfortunately the Armed Response Unit wasn’t available to talk to us, but the Cubs got to sit in a police response vehicle and chat to the officers…
… but then Ziggy got arrested!
After Ziggy was released early on good behaviour we got to go see the police helicopter based at CarrGate:
… until it was called out on a proper job – however we did get to see it take off!
Here’s a gallery of photos (inc the above) from our visit…
The Cubs in Green and Red Sixes who get to go on the next visit, had an interesting evening learning about the WaterAid Charity (which earns the Cubs 2 credits towards their Global Challenge badge – yeah!)
Looks like you all had a wonderful time!
